SDP:n puoluehallitus otti kantaa viime aikoina vallalla olleeseen rasismiin ja vihapuheeseen. Etenkin yhdysvaltalaisen George Floydin kuoleman jälkeen aihe on nostanut entistä enemmän päätään ja mielenosoituksia on järjestetty ympäri maailmaa.
– Kenenkään ihmisarvoa alentavaa puhetta tai toimintaa ei missään olosuhteissa saa hyväksyä. Rasistista puhetta on kuultu jopa eduskunnassa, ja tasa-arvoa väheksyvien näkemysten esittämiseen on annettu julkisia varoja. Tämä on yksiselitteisen tuomittavaa. Päättäjillä on suuri ja painava vastuu yhteiskunnan keskusteluilmapiiristä, SDP:n puheenjohtaja ja eduskunnan varapuhemies Antti Rinne toteaa SDP:n tiedotteessa.
Hän sekä SDP:n puoluesihteeri Anton Rönnholm peräänkuuluttavat jatkuvaa työtä ja tekoja rasismin sekä rakenteellisen syrjinnän kitkemiseksi. Tiedotteessa todetaan, että tekoja tarvitaan jokaisella yhteiskunnan tasolla.
– On meidän jokaisen tehtävä toimia sen eteen, ettei Suomessa kukaan joutuisi kohtaamaan syrjintää ja rasismia. Emme saa kääntää katsettamme pois, emme vaieta tai olla puuttumatta. Meidän pitää antaa tilaa, kuunnella ja kuulla syrjintää kokeneiden ihmisten viesti. Pelkkä nollatoleranssi puheiden tasolla ei riitä, tarvitaan käytännön tekoja kaikkialla yhteiskunnassa. Edellytämme tulevissakin vaaleissa ehdokkailta sitoutumista rasismin ja syrjinnän vastustamiseen, Rönnholm sanoo.
SDP on vaatinut omilta ehdokkailtaan jo pitkään sitoutumista rasismia ja vihapuhetta vastaan.
