Keski-Suomen sorateillä ajettava Jyväskylän MM-ralli joudutaan peruuttamaan koronapandemian vuoksi. Neste Rallin nimellä tunnettu kilpailu oli määrä ajaa 6.-9. elokuuta. Tämän vuoden tapahtuma olisi ollut järjestyksessään 70:s Jyväskylän ralli.
– Vaikka Neste Rallin peruuntumiseen oli pitkin kevättä osattu jo valmistautuakin, on toki selvää, että päätös oli monella tapaa vaikea. Haluamme peruutuksella osoittaa vastuullisuutta aivan kaikkia sidosryhmiämme sekä koko yhteiskuntaa kohtaan. Terveys ja hyvinvointi ovat aina etusijalla, Neste Rallin promoottori Jani Backman kertoo tiedotteessa.
Jyväskylän MM-ralli on monelle ollut kesän yksi kohokohdista ja sen peruuntuminen on iso pettymys, varsinkin, kun tiedossa olisi ollut 70- vuotisjuhlakilpailu. Keskiviikkoinen päätös ei ollut AKK:n Sportsilta helppo, mutta odotettu kuitenkin.
-Suuntaamme katseet luottavaisina vuoteen 2021, jolloin pääsemme vihdoin juhlimaan 70-vuotiasta rallia ansaitusti hyvissä tunnelmissa yhdessä katsojien, kilpailijoiden, tapahtumantekijöiden sekä pitkäaikaisten että uusien kumppaneidemme kanssa, Backman toteaa.
Perinteisesti heinä- elokuun vaihteessa ajettavalle rallia yritettiin viimeiseen asti saada järjestettyä. Koska takeita siitä, että elokuussa rallin järjestäminen olisi vielä mahdollista, ei ollut, oli päätös tehtävä. FIA ehdotti organisaatiolle myös toista ajankohtaa, mutta siihen ei ollut mahdollisuutta taipua.
– Tutkimme tapahtuman siirtämistä myöhemmälle syksyyn, mutta arviomme siirron toteuttamisen epävarmuustekijöistä puhuivat valitettavasti peruutuksen puolesta, Neste Rallin kilpailunjohtaja Kai Tarkiainen harmittelee.
Ralliorganisaatio koostuu niin AKK:n työntekijöistä kuin myös vapaaehtoisista, joka ovat olleet jo pitkään sitoutuneita tämän vuoden tapahtumaan.
– Erityisesti haluamme kiittää kaikkia niitä vapaaehtoisia, jotka olivat jo sitoutuneet tämän vuoden tapahtuman läpivientiin ja tehneet sitä ammattiorganisaatiomme rinnalla aina viime syksystä saakka – vielä tästä noustaan, otetaan ensi vuonna uusiksi, Tarkiainen summaa.
